Friday Five!

Happy Friday! Here's the five.

1. I love love love Christmas, but enough with all the Christmas music and decorations out the second Halloween is over! There's this little holiday in between called Thanksgiving, and I think we should celebrate that and acknowledge the bounty of blessings that we already have before everybody goes nutso over Christmas Consumerism. Ugh. Speaking of Christmas Consumerism, I am sooooo very excited about our Christmas giving this year. Mwahahaha. It's a surprise (duh), so you won't get to know about it until the 26th, but I'll tell you this. It's good.

2.  I missed yesterday's All About Avery, so here's a quick rundown: she's eating a little bit of rice cereal every day now, rolling over like nobody's business, doing this sweet little scratchy thing with her hands (like she's scratching your back when you hold her-- she even gave Nutmeg a great belly rub this morning!), and sleeping 9-10 hours a night! She loves being on her tummy now and is becoming such a little flirt!

3.  I have been Superwoman the last 48 hours. I've been cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, and winning grocery gift cards (no joke!), on top of grading, grading, grading. I really hope Matt's not getting used to this. :)

4. I have started every item with the word "I," so I guess I'll continue it... I had a fun surprise visit from the Sanders girls yesterday! They happened to be in town, and I happened to be home, so we just happened to get together. They hadn't even met Avery yet, so this visit was long overdue!

5.  I only have 27 research papers left to grade (as a result of my beastly grade day that helped me grade 41 in one school day), which means that I might reach my goal of finishing before Sunday! Whew, I'll be so glad when they're done.

Ooooh, tell me about the grocery cards...what is that about? I do not envy your research paper grading. I teach ESOL now so I don't have to do that anymore, but I used to teach 5th grade. It was always crazy to know that I expected them to write five meaty paragraphs, but then I was the one who had to read all 25 papers!

I do not envy the grading of those papers! Maybe that is why I went into Elementary Ed and not teaching English like my grandpa!

Hope you get it all done and Congrats on those gift cards!

OOooh yeah how did you win the grocery cards? Awesome!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday - I love it - no gifts and no hype. It really is a good time of year to slow down and be thankful and grateful and content...

I am so with you. Why is everyone in such a hurry to skip Thanksgiving? I always try to enjoy the season or holiday that I am in rather than wishing them away so I can get onto the next thing.

Amen on the Thanksgiving thing! It's such a wonderful holiday. It's a shame it gets overlooked. On the other hand, I would hate for it to become what other holidays (especially Christmas) have become to some...

Wonderful blog! I'll be back. Thanks for visiting Cozy Your Home, Heather.

My sister is a teacher, so I somewhat understand (by listening to her!) about having grading projects hanging over you. It is NOT the best part of teaching, that's for sure!

I love Thanksgiving, too! I just bought my second turkey this morning just because it was so cheap. :)

I'm right with you in being aghast about Thanksgiving becoming so de-emphasized. As for me and my house, we will give thanks with gusto!

1. It seems like by the time Christmas has come around, people are tired of it. Hubby is prepping for leading worship for December already, so we have some Christmas songs going already. But we will not skip Thanksgiving. I need my Thanksgiving meal. =p

2. I love the scratchy scratches. =p My little girl will not stay on her back anymore...hard for diaper changes.

3. Good job mama!

4. Always great to spend time with those we love.

5. I've graded papers before, but never research papers. Sounds never-ending. Yikes! Good luck.

Thanks for the sweet comments, ladies! Hopefully I'll be finished with research soon enough so I can check out all your blogs. :) Clarification on the grocery cars-- it was just a drawing that they had at our local grocery store. I stopped by to hear my husband's choir (he's a HS director) sing at a store Christmas event (refer to #1), and I randomly entered and then won right after that. I never win anything! Okay, break over. Back to grading.

I hope your pile of 27 papers has been whittled down by now! That sounds hard...and long. I salute you.

Avery looks so cute! She sounds like she is a little personality plus! For some reason, when my kids were little, I didn't take advantage of the wonders of a playpen and chased their little rolling bodies all over the house. I don't know how smart that was now that I think about it.

Hope you get time to take a break and enjoy the weekend!
