Friday Five

Ah, I love Fridays.  Here are the Five:

1. I'll admit that I've had a pretty crummy attitude lately. I've been noticing just how much negativity has been spewing from my mouth, and sometimes for no reason at all but that I feel the need to say something and all I can think of is complaints. That's just sad. So yesterday I decided that I was not going to say anything negative at all. I'm not sure the at all was entirely accurate when all was said and done, but I did notice a huge change in my attitude.

I have this verse posted next to my desk at school, but I had apparently forgotten about it.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Ephesians 4:29.

Edifying speech not only benefits "those who listen," I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that it also benefits those who speak it. I might have to keep this up. :)

2. My sister comes home tomorrow! I always miss that girl when she's at school, and I'm hoping I can talk her into taking some 8 month pictures for Avery. Hint hint, Allison...

3. It turns out babies are pretty good for the ol' tax return.  We got our refund last week (go ahead and insert my dad's you-don't-want-a-refund-because-it-just-means-you-gave-the-government-an-interest-free-loan speech here), and we've been on a furniture hunt ever since. We've been checking out Ashley Furniture and the Rooms to Go outlet and their regular store because I typically like their furniture, mass produced as it may be. We found a sectional I love at Rooms to Go, but we're just not going to be able to go with a sectional in our living room because of the layout. But then we found this at Ashley:

I love love love the color, AND we were going to get a pretty great deal on the sofa, love seat, and a chair. We told the sales guy (who was surprisingly not so annoying) that we wanted to think about it overnight and would come back the next day. He said there was one day left on the sale and to come while he was working between 1 and 7. We went home and measured out the space, decided we definitely wanted the set, and went back the next day at 6:30 (our Sundays are pretty crazy and that was the earliest we could get there). Yeah, so he lied; they closed at 6. I even tried to call and see if we could get that same price the next day, and they said we probably could, so I was still hopeful.

Turns out they didn't really want the sale that bad because he couldn't match the price anymore. And now we're back to square one. And still sitting on our broken couch.

4. I am FINALLY going to get to the grocery store this weekend. I'm determined. I am OVER eating fast food and am desperate to get back on our menu plan. After next week is over, I'll be home again in the evenings (not to mention that it will be Spring Break!).

5. If you've been following my 30(ish) Day Challenge either here or on Facebook, here's a preview of next month's challenge:

Scrapbook at least one page every night.

I'm fortunate enough to have a table and all my crafty stuff set up in our guest room, so that should make the challenge do-able (since I won't be having to set up and take it down every night). My motivation for the challenge is that I haven't touched a scrapbook since before Avery was born, and I am bound and determined to have her first year documented by her first birthday. This should help, right? Right? Well, I guess we'll find out and you can follow that challenge, too, starting in April (which will be here before we know it!).

I hope you all have a fantastic Friday and an even better weekend!

Oh, Heather, I like that red furniture too! I hope ya'll find something you like just as much or even more! We got our living room furniture at Ashley's and our kitchen hutch is from there also. We've been really happy with both!

I'm a teacher too, and man, aren't you just holding out for spring break? We have two more weeks before ours, but I am so ready! I like the attempt at positivity,too- that's something I've been working on! Hope your weekend is fabulous and that you find a comfy affordable couch!

1. Thanks for the verse. I think we are all guilty of unwholesome talk from time to time.
2. Yay for sister time! I love my sisters (and my brother too).
3. I know about broken couches. A spring up my behind was not my definition of comfy.
4. Hooray for spring break!
5. I'll have to follow your challenge. That's a great challenge for April too. When does the little one turn one? I'm planning our party over here.

You should try The Dump for furniture. There tent sales are first come first serve and always have super great prices.

Oh the furniture was so pretty! BUT since it's not an option, it can only mean that God has something even better (and maybe cheaper!) in mind. Wait for it! We sat on a broken couch about a year before we got our 'perfect' furniture almost 10 years ago. It was well worth the wait, but I know it's not a fun wait.

I'm sorry you missed out on the furniture,...it really looked nice. Half thenproblem of onsistent scrapbooking is not being able to leave things all laid out...how fortunate that you're able to do that!

Isn't it amazing the difference a good attitude makes. I got this lesson this weekend!

Sorry baout the furniture, I am hopeful you will find an even better deal out there!

As for the eating plan...UGH! I struggle with that continually. We are on spring break this week and I AM GOING TO DO BETTER!
